Visiting Brandywine outscored arch rival Buchanan 29-19 in the second half and pulled out a 47-41 key BCS Athletic Conference victory over the Bucks Friday night.
The Bucks (0-2, 0-1 BCS) was in control of the contest early, but only scored 19 points in the second half.
The Bobcats (2-0, 1-0 BCS) struggled offensively, but overcame those struggles to outscore Buchanan 41-30 over the final three quarters.
The Bucks were coming off a tough loss to Dowagiac earlier in the week and were looking to bounce back against the Bobcats. Things seemed to be going according to plan for the Bucks early on and Buchanan held a five-point lead after the first quarter.
Brandywine got offensive contributions by seven different players in the first half, but the Bucks’ Tim McCaffrey had seven first half points, helping Buchanan go into the locker room with a 22-18 lead.
Brandywine’s Austin Knapp took control of the game in the third quarter. Knapp had 10 points in the quarter on his way to a game-high 20 points, giving his team a 34-30 lead heading into the final frame.
Despite their best efforts, the Bucks were never able to regain the lead.
The Bobcats scored 29 second half points and outlasted the home team down the stretch.
Brandywine hit five 3-point shots on the night, three in the second half that were instrumental in its comeback victory.
