Athlete Showcase: Buchanan’s Jade Mosier

Jade Mosier is a senior on the Buchanan girls basketball team.
What has been one of your greatest
accomplishments as an athlete?
JM: Being a four-year varsity starter for softball.
What has been one of your biggest
disappointments as an athlete?
JM: Losing to Harper Creek for the regional title in volleyball.
What has been a hardship in your life?
JM: The death of my grandma.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
JM: My five-year-old best friend, who was born with heart defects. She has been through more in her five years than I have been.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
JM: When it’s a big game and we have a big crowd. (playing Brandywine in basketball)
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
JM: I don’t have one.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
JM: I am multi-sport athlete who plays three different sports, so I rarely get any free time.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
JM: I play softball and volleyball as well.
Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?
JM: My dad is my biggest fan. He encourages me to always do my best and stay positive.
How would you give away $50,000?
JM: I would set up an athletic scholarship fund for the upcoming athletes.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
JM: I couldn’t even imagine my life without sports. Sports motivate me.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
JM: To stay calm and keep focus.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
JM: I would change fouls; you would get more fouls to foul out.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
JM: Being told all of the potential I have. It motivates me to make sure I achieve it and not take it for granted.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
JM: Giving a speech in front of my senior class. Yes, I am glad I did it, I overcame my fear.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
JM: The Gondrezick sisters from Benton Harbor really impress me with how they play and how they carry themselves on and off the court.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
JM: Playing sports.
