Downtown South Bend showing free movie

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Downtown South Bend, Inc. has partnered with the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center and Weidner and Company to provide a free screening of The Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) at the Gridiron Saturday, Aug. 22nd.
The activities will begin at 7 p.m. and the movie will begin at dusk (approx. 9:30 p.m.).
Guardians of the Galaxy activities on the Gridiron includes:
• Superhero Costume Contest- judging will taking place at 8:00 p.m. These costumes
can be completely DIY, and do not necessarily have to be existing superheroes. Have
fun and be creative! There are three divisions: children (ages 10 and under), teen
(ages 11-17), and adult (ages 18+). Winners will receive Downtown Dollars.
• Chicory café will offer free kid’s meals to any child dressed up for the Superhero
Costume Contest.
• Finnies Next Door will offer free cover for anyone in costume (must be 21+)
• Coupons for FREE popcorn from SB Chocolate Café will be provided by
Weidner and Co.
• The Pigeon & The Hen Pottery will have a booth full of superhero themed
pottery to paint with acrylic paint.
• A tent with fun games and give-a-ways will be provided by Press Ganey Associates, Inc.
• Concession items include popcorn, ice cream, soda, boxed candy, and bottled water
will be provided by The South Bend Chocolate Company-Chocolate Cafe
The Summer Outdoor Film Series is a chance to gather with family and friends. Screenings are free and open to the public and held outside at the Gridiron adjacent to the South Bend Chocolate Factory. The screenings start dusk (approximately 9:30 p.m.) and are weather permitting. Viewers are encouraged to bring their blankets, chairs, and snacks.
