Registration is open for the annual Cat Tracks 5K Trail Run/Walk benefitting Brandywine High School’s summer camp program.

This event will be held at 9 a.m. Aug. 8 on Brandywine’s crossing country course

The ninth annual Cat Tracks Trail Run/Walk is a fundraising event sponsored by the Brandywine Foundation in partnership with the Niles-Buchanan YMCA and the Low Family.

Proceeds from this race will support Summer My Way camp at Brandywine.

Summer My Way is an opportunity to reach out to children who would not otherwise have a summer camp experience.

Each session of this camp lasts two weeks and consists of three activity tracks.

The “Mad Scientist Track” will introduce children to the fun side of science. Children will go “Around the World” in a track that makes geography come alive.

And the “Movin’ and Fuelin’” track will focus on health nutrition and safety.

“This year marks the ninth year we’ve hosted Cat Tracks, and our second year providing the race with the help from the Niles-Buchanan YMCA,” said Brandywine Supt. John Jarpe. “Area runners and walkers have helped us build our track, provided technology for our students, and we are building a new press box which will be completed this summer.

“In partnership with the ‘Y,’ we are also bringing Summer My Way to Brandywine kids this summer. We hope area runners can come join us for a fun, worthwhile event.”

This 5k Trail Run/Walk follows the Brandywine High School cross country course featuring “The Swamp,” adjoining property owned by the Low Family Farm, and finishes on the Brandywine High School track.

Chip timing will be used.
