Martin Lee Beckwith, 55, of Vandalia, died Friday, July 17, 2015, in his residence.

He was born July 29, 1959, in Niles, Michigan, the only son of William and Nancy Lee (Sloan) Beckwith. His parents preceded him in death.

Marty loved working on his cars. He loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed Michigan State football and basketball. Marty will be remembered for his caring and compassion, his advice and his laugh. Marty’s life is filled with stories of exploits and adventures. His daughter, Alyssa, makes no apologies for being a “Daddy’s Girl” because he was always there for her – a trait for which she will always be grateful.

Martin will be greatly missed by family and friends.  He is survived by one daughter, Alyssa Beckwith of Chicago, Illinois; two sons, Bryan (Franki Jo) Beckwith of Chicago, Illinois, Dustin (Dr. Julie) Beckwith of West Lafayette, Indiana; one sister, Marla J. (Jack) Binns of Cassopolis; one nephew, Jesse Binns of Cassopolis; one niece and her husband, Lesley and Aaron Steensma, and their children, Caleb and Caitlyn, of Vandalia; uncle and aunt, Robert and Ruthann Burkett of Cassopolis; and close friends, Mike File of Vandalia and Sam Tone of Battle Creek.

Family and friends will gather Monday, July 20, 2015, from 5 until 7 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, for a time of storytelling and sharing memories.
