The Cassopolis Family Clinic Network Board of Directors contributed $15,000 to the Village of Cassopolis for improvements to Clisbee Park Monday.

The money will be put to use after the former Cassopolis Family Clinic building, which was built in 1959, is demolished in September.

“We are very grateful for the support of the Village of Cassopolis and the Cass County Board of Commissioners, who made it possible for us to build a new facility at 261 M-62 North,” Cassopolis Family Clinic Network CEO Mary Geegan Middleton said. “In turn, it is our pleasure to make this donation for improvements to the park.”

The village is currently gathering information from citizens as to how to make improvements and how to spend the money donated Monday night.

In other business, the village manager Cindy LaGrow requested that the council use a form similar to last year when the council performs her annual review.

She pointed out that LaGrow Consulting, in the two-plus years it has worked with the village, it has brought $2.7 million in grants, $30,000 in new projects and helped put $400,000 back into the fund balance.

LaGrow’s review, which will be done in a public meeting, is due in the next 30 days.

Jason Little asked the village council to approve a request for a 5K run to benefit the Cassopolis cross country and track programs Aug. 29.

The course would be the same as the one used during the Log Cabin Run in 2013.
The event would begin and end at Sam Adams Elementary.

The village also approved:

• A community garage sale Aug. 6-8, which will be in conjunction with the Cass County Fair.

• Approved a site plan for the Community Mills expansion.

• Approved the purchase of a generator for the interceptor lift station on Peavine Street.

• Approved the purchase of a skid steer scoop bucket.

• Approved hiring a firm to update the village’s website.

• Approved a new Freedom of Information Act process in order to comply with new state and federal regulations.
