Ethelyn J. Jones, 74, of Niles, Michigan died at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Lakeland Hospital in Niles following an extended illness.

She was born on May 4, 1941, in Lawrence, Michigan to Grant W. and Hernaca P. (Johnson) Tyler. She was employed for many years as a CNA at Silverbrook Manor in Niles.

Ethelyn enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Bitely, Michigan. She also enjoyed reading, watching television including Bonanza and Little House on the Prairie, and playing cards with her kids.

On Oct. 10, 1958, she married Ronald L. Jones with whom she celebrated the 43rd anniversary of their wedding prior to his death on March 6, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Tyler.

Surviving family includes her children, Leonard (Cindy) Cameron of Niles, Luke (Cookie) Jones of Buchanan, Crystal Jones of Niles, Kurt (Beverly) Jones of Niles, Matt (Alice) Jones of Buchanan, John Jones of Niles and Mary Curtis of Niles; and her brothers Walt Tyler of Missouri, Rodney Tyler of Dowagiac, and Kermit Tyler of Florida.

The family will be gathering privately for services.

Contributions in memory of Ethelyn may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
