Aug. 25, 1929 — June 25, 2015
Dale Francis Hoot, 85, passed away peacefully in his home June 25, 2015.
Born Aug. 25, 1929, in South Bend, Indiana, he was the son of the late Frank Leroy and Edith Ellen (Wolf) Hoot. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Hoot; and brother, Ernest Hoot.
Left to cherish his memory are four daughters, Gayle (Thomas) Crocker of South Bend, Peggy (Charles) Good of Three Oaks, Michigan, and Tina McGowan and Marcie Huff, both of South Bend; six grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda and Adam Huff, Ian and Joel Crocker, and Jacob Good; and three great-grandchildren, Teagan, Kennedy Rae, and Jaxson Ryan Huff.
Dale was a wonderful and dedicated husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. He will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and ability to make you laugh even in his last days. He was an avid fisherman and passed the enjoyment to his children. He even made them their own fly fishing rods. He was a long time member of the Masonic Lodge of St. Joseph #45 and a retiree of Niles Precision after 37 years of employment. He taught his four daughters so many things…dedication, respect, hard work, loyalty, high values, how to use power tools, to change a tire, to fish, the love of nature and so much more. Even though he left this world, he has and never will leave our hearts and memories.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 30th at the McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Chapel, 435 S. Ironwood Dr. at 1 p.m. Visitation will be held two hours prior. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fresenius Medical Care Nephrology Blackthorn, Cardiac Interventional Unit at SJRMC, and Southern Care Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, 911 E. 86th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
