Dowagiac All-Stars power their way to title

PAW PAW — The Dowagiac 9-10 All-Star team won the championship of the Paw Paw Tournament Wednesday.
In pool play Dowagiac went 4-0, defeating Paw Paw B 7-4, Decatur 15-5 in five innings and South Haven 8-2.
During pool play Andrew Confer went 11-of-12 with a home run seven RBIs and scored nine runs. Abraham Guernsey had 13 hits with two RBIs and scored four runs. Drayton Rusher had 12 hits with two RBIs and scored five runs. Kanyon Binns added nine hits with four RBIs and four runs.
Clayton Miller also had nine hits with nine RBIs and five runs. Mason Maggert had seven hits with six RBIs and scored two runs. Kaden Sandora had six hits with four RBIs and scored four runs. Cayden Dorman also had six hits with three RBIs and scored a run.
Caiden Smith had five hits with an RBI and scored three runs. AJ Munson had four hits, an RBI and scored a run. Lamone Moore had three hits with an RBI and a run scored. Brayden Peters finished with three hits with two RBIs and scored three runs.
In the semifinal game against Hartford, Dowagiac won 16-5 in 3 1/2 innings.
Confer kept up his power surge hitting two home runs and a double with four RBIs and scored three runs. Binns added three doubles an RBI and scored three runs. Peters and Drayton Rusher each had a triple, scored a run and had an RBI. Abraham Guernsey, Maggert, Sandora, Miller and Moore each added two hits. Dorman and Smith each had a hit.
In the championship game against the Paw Paw A team, Dowagiac won 16-6 in four innings.
The all-stars put on a power show hitting five home runs.
Peters and Miller had three-run homers, while Confer and Maggert had two-run homers with Binns delivering a solo shot. Sandora and Dorman added two hits with Moore and Guernsey each finishing with a hit.
