Cassopolis High School senior Rachelle Williams recently signed her National Junior College Athletic Association letter of intent to play softball at Ancilla College.

Williams, a pitcher and corner infielder, is batting .477 with a .818 slugging percentage with 38 RBI and three home runs this season. In 121 innings pitched the Rangers’ captain has struck out 121. Williams has five no-hitters and two one-hitters this season, as well. She was named to both the All-District and All-Conference softball teams last season, was the 2013 and 2014 tournament MVP at the Burr Oak tournament, and was given the 2014 Team Slugger Award for her six home runs last season.

She has played volleyball, basketball and softball for the Rangers where she was All-Conference Honorable Mention and tournament MVP at the River Valley tournament in volleyball this past season.

Williams has been a member of the National Honor Society and The National Technical Honor Society for two years and received a National Commemorative Certificate from the United States Achievement Academy, outstanding Co-op student of the year, and was nominated for the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientist Award of Excellence. She has worked co-op at the Bert Goens Learning Center, where she knew she wanted to continue her education as a nurse. Williams has assisted moderate to severe handicapped children with their daily activities while working there. As a member of the Jones Rough Riders 4-H she has shown horses, sheep, a variety of still exhibits and community service.

“I choose Ancilla because I felt comfortable there during my visit,” began Williams. “It’s in the country, has small classes and a great nursing program. Having the opportunity to continue playing softball in college was a bonus.”

“Rachelle is a fabulous young lady who will bring a lot of tools with her to help our program,” said Ancilla coach Scott Reese. “I expect that she will not only be an asset in the circle, but at the plate, as well. I am excited that she has decided to join the Ancilla softball family.”

Rachelle is the daughter of Paul and Dawn Williams and is planning on completing her degree in Nursing while at Ancilla.

Ancilla College is a small, private, liberal arts school in Donaldson, Indiana.
