Dixie P. Johnston, 69, of Niles, Michigan, passed away at home on June 13th, 2015.

She was born to the late James and Margaret (Kennedy) Prentice on Oct. 16th, 1945, in Mendota, Illinois.
Dixie married Edward Johnston at a ceremony in Dixon, Illinois, on Nov. 19, 1983. Dixie loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and reading.
She is survived by her daughter; Tiffany (James) Jaynes, two step-children; Edward and Richard Johnston of Spring Valley, Illinois, four grandchildren; Mercedes (Brandon) Nyhuis, Stingray Jaynes, Shelby Jaynes and Chevelle Jaynes, of Niles, three great grandchildren; Preston, Blake and Kyle Nyhuis, two step-grandchildren; Jerry and Julie Johnston, brother; Harry (Rita) Prentice, sister; Diana (Adelbert) Wise; sister-in-law, June Prentice.
Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Johnston, sister; Donna Lunardon and brother; James Prentice.
Services to honor Dixie’ s life will be on Thursday, June 18th, 2015, at 6 p.m. at Brown Funeral home with visitation two hours prior. A separate service will be held for friends and family to honor Dixie’s life at a later date in Mendota, Illinois.
