Eddies dominate All-West baseball squad

Dowagiac seniors Matt Smith and Mason Hojara have been named to the Wolverine Conference All-West Division baseball team.

Smith, who hit .403 with 12 RBIs for the Chieftains this season, was a first team selection.

Hojara, who hit .301 with 10 stolen bases and 10 RBIs, was an honorable mention pick.

West Division champion Edwardsburg led the way with five first team selections.

Dalton Raymond, Jesse Reinebold, Damion Pompey, Joe Raab and Derek Pierce were named to the first team.

Edwardsburg’s A.J. Gaideski was named Coach of the Year.

Ben Robertson was an honorable mention pick.

Raymond hit .395 with 36 RBIs for Edwardsburg, while Reinebold hit .415 with 21 RBIs. Pompey hit .360 with 19 RBIs and Pierce hit 2.96 with 15 RBIs. Robertson hit .284 with 10 RBIs.

Raymond was 5-0 with an ERA of 1.12 with 55 strikeouts against West Division competition.

Raab was 7-0 with an ERA of .485 with 63 strikeouts.
