BRIDGMAN — Weather played havoc with the Division 3 district softball tournament at Bridgman Saturday.

Rain forced a delay in the start of the tournament and played a roll in shortening the championship game by one inning.

Buchanan defeated Brandywine 2-0 in the six-inning championship game to win the district championship.

The Bucks (26-7) advanced to the title game with a 10-5 win over Constantine, while Brandywine (20-13) reached the championship game with a 2-0 win over host Bridgman.

Buchanan scored both of its runs in the fifth inning.

Ali Kyles would come around to score after being hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Morgan Lenox singled to score Kyles. Maddie Hemphill, who had walked with two outs, scored on a single by Jayla Bibbs.

They were the only two hits the Bucks would get off of Brandywine’s Hannah Hadden.

Buchanan now awaits the winner of the Bangor district, which was postponed until today next Saturday in Bloomingdale.

In its semifinal win over Bridgman, Brandywine scored both runs in the sixth inning.

Michaela Hartline doubled and advanced to third on a passed ball and Kelly Harper drew a walk. Morgan Crocker grounded out to score Hartline and Harper would come around to score an insurance run on a single by Ayralynn Lasane.

Buchanan got off to a fast start in its semifinal win over Constantine with four runs in the first inning.

Samantha Luzadre doubled and drove in three runs, while Morgan Richer had a pair of doubles for the Bucks.
