Three injured in Dowagiac accident

Three people were injured in a traffic accident that occurred on the outskirts of Dowagiac Wednesday evening, according to a release from the Dowagiac Police Department.
According to police, the accident occurred at the intersection of M-51 and Pokagon Street at around 7:40 p.m. A westbound vehicle driven 19-year-old Camille Ralston, of Dowagiac, collided with a southbound vehicle driven by 61-year-old Lila Chaney, of Cassopolis, after the former left the stop sign without yielding the right of way to Chaney at the intersection.
Chaney sustained minor injuries from the crash and was transported to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital by Pride Care Ambulance. Ralston and her minor passenger were checked out on scene by Pride Care, and were later treated at the local hospital after being transported there by a family member. All parties were treated and released.
All persons involved were wearing seat belts and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
Officers of the Dowagiac Police Department and Dowagiac Fire Department were assisted on scene by the Pokagon Band Tribal Police and Silver Creek Police Department.
