Edwardsburg wins Wolverine baseball championship

KALAMAZOO — The Edwardsburg baseball team defeated South Haven and Paw Paw to win the Wolverine Conference Championship Saturday.
The Eddies edged the Rams 4-3 in the semifinals and then got past Paw Paw 3-1 in the championship game.
Joe Raab and Dalton Raymond combined on a four-hitter with seven strikeouts against South Haven. Raab worked the first six innings before giving way to Raymond, who picked up the save.
The Eddie used a three-run sixth inning to rally from a 3-1 deficit.
Edwardsburg used a passed ball, an RBI single by Damion Pompey and an error to plate the winning runs.
Pompey was 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Eddies.
In the championship game, Raymond went the distance, tossing a three-hitter with five strikeouts.
Pompey and Zach Plummer each had two hits, while Joe Hess doubled. Pompey drove in a pair of runs for Edwardsburg, which improved to 17-8 in the year.
