The Chieftains had nine hits. Herter was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Kiggins, Riley Daly and Allen all doubled.

“We knew what we had to do today and we came out and did it,” Dowagiac coach Mike Behnke said. “We knew Allegan has struggled this year and our plan was to take out some frustrations we’ve had lately and we did. And then we did the same to Sturgis. I challenged the girls to stay focus and do the little things right and we would have two mercy games and that is exactly what happened. We are getting better defensively and Megan Soderbloom has pitched well with Taylor Hulett being shut down with an arm injury.”
