Duckett wins three regional titles

GOBLES — Brandywine’s Andrew Duckett will get to defend his 300-meter intermediate hurdles state title May 30 at Comstock Park.

Duckett was a multiple winner at the Division 3 Regional held at Gobles Friday.

Duckett won the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 15.11, won the 300 hurdles with a time of 39.16 and won the 200-meters with a time of 22.56.

Duckett’s time in the 300 hurdles was three seconds faster than the runner-up.

Brandywine’s Black Lerner will also compete in the state finals as he was a regional champion in the long jump with a leap of 21-feet.

Berrien Springs easily won the boys team championship with 102 points. Comstock was second with 81. Brandywine placed sixth (56).

The Bobcats’ Emily Pedzinski was the regional champion in the 800-meters with a time of 2:28.52. She will also compete in the high jump after finishing second with a height of 4-8.

Buchanan’s Brooke Wesner will compete in the pole vault as she was second in the pole vault with a eight of 7-6.

Watervliet and Schoolcraft tied for first place with 86 points. Brandywine tied for 13th with Bridgman, while Buchanan finished 15th.
