In advance of Saturday’s YO Fun N’ Run, Niles New Tech is offering a free health fair from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday in both gymnasiums at Niles High School.

Bill Prenkert, New Tech instructor, said the event will feature between 30 and 40 booths covering all three aspects of health — mental, physical and social.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to learn about all the things that contribute to a person’s overall being of health,” Prenkert said. “There will be plenty of opportunities for people to learn something that maybe they didn’t know before.”

More than 100 sophomore students in New Tech’s health and marketing class, called HealthWealth, put the health fair together.

Prenkert said they spent the past few months learning about the three aspects of health and how to market and plan for a health fair.

“From a marketing aspect, they learned all about going and promoting things,” he said.

In addition to providing information and resources about health, the health fair will act as a place where people can pick up packets and register for Saturday’s “YO” Fun ‘N Run.

Prenkert said his students helped create promotional materials like pamphlets and logos for the fun run. New Tech students will also volunteer at Saturday’s event.
