Robert L. Snodgrass, 85, of Jones, died peacefully, Thursday, May 7, 2015, in Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Robert was born Feb. 23, 1930, in St. Bernice, Indiana to Earl and Ethel (Kyle) Snodgrass. He married Lois Jean “Jeannie” White Aug. 30, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She preceded him in death Jan. 21, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister Wilma Jean Snodgrass.
Bob retired from NIPSCO after 37 years. He loved the outdoors, whether hunting or fishing. Bob and Jeannie served as Youth Leaders for Elkhart Valley Church of the Brethren for many years. Bob collected die cast cars. He had many beagles and named them all “Jippy.” He loved horses, although his family says that if it had four legs and fur it was good. Most of his life was spent on the farm. He retired on Driscoll Lake and enjoyed fishing off of the pontoon or the pier.
Bob will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by one son and daughter in law, Rob and Kathe Snodgrass, II, of Vandalia; one granddaughter, Jakayla (Norman) Troyer of Milford, Indiana; two grandsons, Derek Snodgrass of Jones, Jeffrey (Emily) Bostic of Cassopolis; one great granddaughter, Jeanna Troyer.
Family and friends will gather Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 3 until 5 p.m. in Hope United Methodist Church, 69941 Elkhart Road, Edwardsburg, with the Reverend Jeff Reese officiating. Mr. Snodgrass will be accorded full Military Honors by active members of the U.S. Army and the Honor Guard of American Legion Edwardsburg Post 365.
