As warm weather returns to southwest Michigan, Niles is gearing up for another year of offering nature’s best products at the annual French Market.

However, there will be a few changes people need to be aware of for this year’s market, now in its 10th year.

The market will relocate to Lakeland Hospital-Niles’ lower level parking lot, located near the west side of the Broadway Bridge.

The market is normally held in the parking lot on the corner of Front and Main Streets, but ongoing work on a project to replace the Main Street Bridge has caused the location to change.

“There will be some adapting at first, but we will figure it out,” said Lisa Croteau, program manager for Niles Main Street DDA.

The day of the market is also changing.

The market will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays beginning May 15 and running through Oct. 30.

Croteau said people can expect the same type of products at this year’s French Market, which offers fresh produce, baked goods and other natural products, such as soap.

This year’s market is held in partnership with Lakeland Hospital.
