Fired shots lead to school lockdowns

Brandywine and Niles Community Schools were on lockdown this afternoon after an alleged shooting in Niles.
According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department, officers were called to the 700 block of Maple street after shots were fired. According to a witness, a black male fired shots into the air, but ran before police arrived on the scene.
The police have located shell casings, but have been unable to locate the suspect.
The lockdown has been lifted for Brandywine schools. Students at Niles Schools are being released to their parents.
