Eddies sweep Dowagiac in Wolverine West baseball

Visiting Edwardsburg was too much for the Dowagiac baseball team at Rotary Park Tuesday.

The Eddies swept the Wolverine Conference West Division doubleheader 15-1 in five innings and 10-2.

Damion Pompey tossed a four-hitter with five strikeouts in the opening game for the Eddies. Matt Smith took the loss for the Chieftains.

Edwardsburg finished with 12 hits, including three doubles by Dalton Raymond and two doubles by Pompey.

Eric Walker was 2-for-2 for the Chieftains, while Smith drove in one of Dowagiac’s runs.

In the nightcap, Jesse Reinebold picked up the victory as he allowed two runs on five hits with six strikeouts. Joe Raab pitched the sixth and Raymond the seventh for the Eddies.

Daquan Brooks took the loss for the Chieftains, who also sent Mack Charles and Collin Hassle to the mound.

Jackson Gaideski was 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Derek Pierce had two hits and drove in three runs for the Eddies. Pompey and Zach Plummer also finished with two hits. Plummer picked up a pair of RBIs.

Dowagiac finished with eight hits including two from Brooks and Brenden Dudley.
