The Dowagiac soccer team is still looking for that first victory.

Monday night’s loss to visiting Coloma 3-2 in a shootout is particularly painfull as the Chieftains allowed a 2-0 halftime advantage disappoint, including putting the Comets on the scoreboard in the 63rd minute with an own goal.

“We let is slip away, simple as that,” Dowagiac coach Ryan Haines said. “All in all we have to play a full 80 minutes. This game was a great learning tool for us. We will get better, and as a result we will be successful. Hats off to Coloma, they fought till the end and played a great game.”

Logan McMeeken (16th minute) and Cali Rank (20th minute) scored the first half goals for the Chieftains.

Coloma’s Ashley Sipla tied the score at 2-2 in the 78th minute.

Dowagiac (0-7, 0-2 West) will host Edwardsburg in another West Division match at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
