SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Staff members at the Potawatomi Zoo are proud to introduce two new additions to their zoo family: Jinx and Aurora, both African Painted Dogs.

Jinx is 7 years old and Aurora is 9 years old. Both dogs are very active and enjoy chasing each other around their exhibit enjoying various enrichment activities.

Painted Dogs are Africa’s most endangered carnivores. Once, more than 500,000 roamed the wild. Now only 7,000 remain in the wild. The Potawatomi Zoo supports Painted Dog conservation and is proud to have these endangered species on exhibit. Leaders pledge to continue contributing to their survival.

The Potawatomi Zoo hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (including weekends and holidays).

Admission is $9.50 for adults, children ages 3 to 14 are $7.50, seniors age 62 and above are $7.50 while children 2 and under are free.

Potawatomi Zoo members are admitted free of charge. Zoo memberships are available at the member’s booth at the zoo entrance gate. The zoo train is also running with rides only $2 per person with children 2 and under free.
