Rangers sweep Eau Claire to improve to 4-2

EAU CLAIRE — Visiting Cassopolis made short work of Eau Claire in non-league softball Thursday.

The Rangers won the first game 12-1 and the completed the sweep with a 17-1 win in three innings.

Rachelle Williams struck out 14 batters in picking up the victory in the opening game.

Williams lost her no-hit bid in the seventh inning on a single by Dustin.

Six runs in the first three innings helped the Rangers blow out Eau Claire. An RBI double by Nikki Keefe in the first inning supplied the early offense for the Rangers.

Cassopolis scored five runs in the third inning and matched that run total in the seventh. In the third, the Rangers scored on an RBI triple by Williams, plating Erica Williams.

The Rangers built upon their lead with five runs in the seventh. A passed ball scored Alley Anderson to get Cassopolis on the board in the inning. That was followed up by Williams’ single, bringing home Michelle Green.

Rachelle Williams was the winning in the nightcap as well as she tossed a three-hitter with five strikeouts.

At the plate, Rachelle Williams was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and four RBIs.

Nikki Keefe was 2-for-3 with a triple, while Jayna Locke was also 2-for-3 with a triple.

Kaylynn Forrest was 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs.
