Carolyn’s life began April 28, 1940, in Benton Harbor. She grew up in Bainbridge Township and graduated from Eau Claire High School. After high school she continued her education earning her Masters in Library Science from Western Michigan University. Carolyn then went to work as a librarian in Niles Schools, where she met Frank Rzeszut who was a teacher there. Frank and Carolyn married July 31, 1976, and raised two loving children.
Carolyn was a gifted vocalist. Prior to marriage she was a member of the South Bend Symphonic Choir, giving her the opportunity to travel Europe and perform. Carolyn enjoyed being an active member of the choir at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Niles, reading, and learning sign language.
Her greatest enjoyment was caring for her family which includes her husband Frank W. Rzeszut, a daughter Laura (Russell) VanBlack of Rockford, MI, and a son Frank M. Rzeszut of Niles. Carolyn died Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Lakeland Hospital Niles. Her parents Howard and Wilna (Rowe) Schaus, and two brothers Warren and Alan Schaus precede Carolyn in death.
Funeral services will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 20, at noon with visitation prior starting at 11 a.m. at Hutchins Funeral Home in Watervliet. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Watervliet. You may share a memory with Carolyn’s family at hutchinsfuneral.com
