Kathleen Tucker Evick, 82, of Niles, Michigan died at 5:52 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014, at the home of her daughter following an extended illness.

She was born on June 30, 1932, in Carthage, Mississippi to Otho and Emma Louise (Horn) Tucker. She was graduated from high school in Marked Tree, Arkansas, and has lived in Niles since 1951. She was employed at Bendix Automotive Division in South Bend for 30 years.

Kathy enjoyed playing bingo, and bowling with her husband. They were winter residents of Pharr, Texas.

On May 1, 1954, in Niles she married Clayton E. Evick with whom she celebrated the 61st anniversary of their wedding prior to his death on March 9, 2013. They were also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Evick on June 7, 1992; and by Kathy’s sister, Alice Fay Tucker in 1997 and brother, Jefferson Tucker in 1971.

Surviving family includes a son, Gary C. (Elizabeth) Evick of Bowie, Texas and daughter, Carla (Nick) Williamson of Niles; grandchildren, Justin Williamson, Jessica Williamson, and Amy Cunningham; great-grandchildren Shayla and Warren Cunningham; and Kathy’s brothers, Alvin (Beverly) Tucker of Niles and Jerry (Doris) Tucker of Atlanta, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

Services for Kathleen Evick will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Randy Pearman of Bethel Baptist Church in Niles officiating. Committal will follow at Mission Hills.

The family will gather privately at the funeral home at Noon on Thursday, and will receive relatives and friends beginning at 1 p.m. Contributions in memory of Kathy may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.
