Southwestern Michigan College hosts its annual College Night on Wednesday, Sept. 24, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Charles O. Zollar Building on the Dowagiac campus.

For your convenience, enter off Dailey Road.

Scheduled as part of College Night are two financial aid information sessions at 6:45 and at 7:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary to learn about scholarships, grants, loans and work-study opportunities.

More than 50 institutions are coming from Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois.

“We provide information useful to people wherever they go, such as financial aid,” SMC President Dr. David M. Mathews said. “Even if they still really want to go to Michigan State, they may see how to save a ton of money by starting with us, then transferring. Even if they want a bachelor’s degree in accounting, they may find the way to do that is through the Ferris State University program on the campus of Southwestern Michigan College.

“This is a great service to the community,” he said. “Come see all of your options side by side. We have longstanding transfer agreements with many of these institutions. They’re as much our educational partners as our competitors.”

All college-bound high school students and their parents are encouraged to attend.

Scheduled to be on hand are representatives of Albion College, Alma College, Andrews University, Adrian College, Aquinas College, Baker College-Muskegon, Ball State University, Bethel College, the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Concordia University in Ann Arbor, Cornerstone College, Central Michigan University, Denison University in Ohio, Depauw University, Eastern Michigan University, Ferris State University, Ferris State University at Southwestern Michigan College, Finlandia (the only private university in the Upper Peninsula), Glen Oaks Community College, Grace Bible College, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Indiana University South Bend, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Kellogg Community College, Kendall College of Art and Design, Kuyper College for Christian leadership in Grand Rapids, Lake Michigan College, Lake Superior State University, Lawrence Technological University, Madonna University, Marygrove College, Michigan State University, Michigan Technological University, Northern Michigan University, Northwood University, Oakland University, Olivet College, Purdue University, Purdue University College of Technology-South Bend, Saint Mary’s College, Saginaw Valley State University, Southwestern Michigan College, Trine University, University of Detroit Mercy, University of Michigan, University of Michigan-Flint, University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Valparaiso University, Western Michigan University, Western Michigan University College of Business, Western Michigan University College of Education and Human Development, Western Michigan University College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Western Michigan University Army ROTC, Michigan Army National Guard and the U.S. Army, Coast Guard and Marine Corps.
