Monday, Sept. 22
• 9 a.m. — The Morning Club: Craft Day
The Morning Club is a group open to everyone that meets every Monday for movies, fitness fun led by the YMCA, crafts coordinated by Gateway Services, Fun with Food presented by Lakeland, special guests and more. Each week has something different.
• 9 a.m. — Book, Hook and Needle fiber group
Patrons are encouraged to bring a project for some company while they work. Beginners will learn casting on and the knit stich.
• 6 p.m. — Meditation
• 6:30 p.m. — Kundalini yoga/meditation
Tuesday, Sept. 23
• Making Change
Making Change is a free six-session class that prepares participants to make informed financial decision. Topics include creating spending plans, using financial services, homeownership and borrowing, earning power and insurance, savings and investing, and solving consumer problems. To enable participation, free childcare is offered at the YMCA with transportation assistance and meals for attendees. Class times are from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the library, 1 to 3 p.m. at the Niles Housing Commission and 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the library. Register at ChangingTheBalance.org.
• 6 p.m. — Family science night
This week’s Family Science Night will be at Barnes and Noble in Mishawaka. Participants will do the ocean in a bottle craft.
Wednesday, Sept. 24
• 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. — Multiple story times.

• 6:30 p.m. — Professional Development and Networking
Those looking for a way to sharpen their skills or explore opportunities can join library staff on the last Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the library. Each month staff will feature a speaker or professional development activity and time to chat with others. This month’s topic is “How to present an effective status report” presented by Shane Hollister, a local Organizational Management professional.
Thursday, Sept. 25
• 9 a.m. — French market
Visitors can now shop for fall produce and locally made products with a wonderful view of fall foliage while staying comfortable and dry in the Niles District Library’s glassed-in rotunda.
• 10:30 a.m. — Story time for ages 3-5
• 1 p.m. — Mahjong/game day
• 1:30 p.m. — Story time for ages 3-5
• 4 p.m. — Tween Book Club (ages 8-12): Al Capone Does My Shirts
• 4 p.m. — Teen Book Club: Inkheart. Join library staff for sunacks and a book discussion. Stop by the Youth Services Desk for a copy of the book.
• 6 p.m. — Lego free play.
Saturday, Sept. 27
• 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. — Michigan Historical Archaeological Association Conference
The public is welcome to join attendees of the Midwest Historical Archaeology Conference to hear presentations about the exploration of Fort St. Joseph and sites in the Midwest.
