Dowagiac All-Stars win Paw Paw Invitational

PAW PAW — The Dowagiac 12U All-Stars captured the Paw Paw Tournament with a 10-5 win over the host team Thursday.

On its way to the championship, Dowagiac defeated South Haven 19-0, tied Paw Paw 1-1, blanked Bloomingdale 20-0, blanked Gobles 15-0 and defeated South Haven 17-0.

Against South Haven, Duan Simpson had a two-run home run, DaShawn Brooks hit a solo home run, Thomas Swanson hit two home runs, while Cristian Wilson and Garrett Pillivant both had grand slams.

Wilson had a solo home run in the tie with Paw Paw.

Against Bloomingdale, Kade Schreiber had a grand slam. Against Gobles, Jared Checkley had a grand slam.

In the second meeting with South Haven, Swanson hit two more home runs.

Dowagiac did not homer against Paw Paw in the championship game. In fact, Paw Paw was the only team in the tournament to play a full six innings against Dowagiac.
