The Edwardsburg community is beginning to ramp up preparations and fundraising events for the 2014 Relay for Life at the Edwardsburg Middle School June 21-22.

A benefit concert featuring Edwardsburg’s own Megan and Liz will be held at 7 p.m. on June 20 in the Performing Arts Center.

Sisters Megan and Liz Mace are transitioning from pop to country recording artists.

Tickets are already on sale and are $25 for lower level and $15 for upper level.

A limited number of VIP tickets, including a meet and greet, have already sold out.

Tickets can be purchased online at meganandlizrelay.evenbrite.com or at the Edwardsburg Public Schools Administration Building.

The fifth annual Relay for Life will begin at 10 a.m. June 21 with opening remarks and then a survivor’s lap.

“All of us who participate in Relay are part of the cure,” Angie Carrick, event chairman said. “Everything we do at Relay contributes to reducing cancer mortality and incidences. Whether it is raising dollars that go to support patient programs and research or volunteering to commit to advocacy and education efforts, we’re all a part of the fight.”

There is still plenty of time to form a team and begin fundraising efforts.

Teams can consist of co-workers, friends and family members, businesses, schools, organizations and religious groups.

Once a team is formed it can begin fundraising and seeking sponsorships for the event, which lasts 24 hours. Each member of the team takes a turn walking the track in the effort to raise awareness and fund to fight cancer.

Anyone interested in joining a team can log into www.relayforlife.org/edwardsburgmi and register.

Donations are also accepted for those who are unable to put a team together and participate.
