Doug Burdick, 57, of Dowagiac, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014, in his home with his family by his side.

Doug Burdick was born on Oct. 21, 1956, in Dowagiac to Lawrence and Patricia (Sayer) Burdick.

He is preceded in death by his father, Floyd Rife, and grandparents.

Doug is survived by his mother, fiancée Nelly Waterson of Dowagiac; four sons, Ryan (Gina) Burdick of Chesterton, Indiana, Eric Burdick of Fountain, Michigan, Mike (Melissa) Putman of Cassopolis, Don Putman of Cassopolis; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Mark (Darlene) Burdick of Decatur, Danny Rife of Dowagiac; three sisters, Kimberly (Bruce) Kyle of Edwardsburg, Anna Burdick of Dowagiac, Linda (Jerry) Townsend of Decatur; three uncles and three aunts.

He enjoyed cruising the back roads in his red Jeep CJ-5, going camping with the family and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.

In keeping with Doug’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service at 2 p.m.  Saturday, May 10, 2014 in the Mission Hills Memorial Chapel; 61453 M-51 N. Niles, Michigan 49120 with a time of visitation one hour prior.
