Carl and Donna (Hellwig) Newson, of Buchanan, celebrated the 65th anniversary of their wedding last month.

Carl and Donna were married at the First United Methodist Church in Buchanan on April 9, 1949.

Carl and Donna had four children, David Newsom, Don (Maureen) Newsom, Kyla Lund and the late Mark Newsom.

They have eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Carl is an active Honor Guard member for Buchanan American Legion Post 51, and was active with Boy Scout Troop 41 for 40 years. He is a retired rural mail carrier from the United States Postal Service.

Donna is active in the Buchanan Schools’ mentoring program. She is a retired Buchanan Township clerk.

The family held a celebration in April.
