He has a Bachelor of Business from Western Michigan University and lives in Three Rivers with his wife, Laura.

“As a longtime Republican leader, US Army veteran and local businessman, I feel that I am the best prepared candidate to represent the residents of Cass and St. Joseph Counties,” Sills said. “I am also pleased to have worked for the office of Senator Bruce Caswell from 2011 to 2013.  His credentials are impressive and his mentoring has been invaluable.”

Sills is a past chairman of the St. Joseph County Republican Party, and serves on its executive committee. He is the recipient of the 2011 Republican Mackinac Conference leadership award for his work in St. Joseph County.

Citing his background of working with city and county officials, Sills said he favors our legislature’s effort to restore state revenue sharing to local government.

“Our townships, cities, and counties are still coping with the revenue cuts caused by the economic downturn,” he said. “Coupled with strong businesses and a healthy workforce, we can build our communities. Together we have an opportunity to create a brighter future for everyone.”

When asked why he is running for state representative, Sills said 2014 offers an incredible opportunity to move Michigan forward in a positive way and he wants to be a part of that effort.

”As a local business owner and tax payer, I have seen how government policies affect our lives,” Sills said. “Southwest Michigan is rich in resources and talented people, but we can be stronger. We need to attract more businesses that pay good wages so that we can improve our quality of life. I will focus on ending regulations that impede progress while at the same time strive to promote faith in government.”
