Lynn Timmons passed away on Dec. 11, 2013, at the Hospice House in South Bend, Ind. after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Laurel, Md., in July 1944, Lynn was the daughter of Wilbur Russell Stough and Mary Jean Walker Stough. She had one brother, Robert Stough.

Lynn married Ronald Timmons in Dowagiac, Mich. in 1966.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, a granddaughter Samantha Kay Lynn, and beloved husband Ronald Timmons. Her son Russell Dale Timmons, of Buchanan, also died recently.

Lynn is survived by her beloved grandsons Orion Dale Timmons and Russell Dale Timmons, Jr. (Rusty) and sisters-in-law Connee (Robert) Canfield, of Keeler, Mich, and Cheryl Finnell of Jacksonville, Fla.

Other survivors include nieces and nephews Cathaleen (Gerardo Morales) Canfield, Cheri Lynn Canfield, David Buddy Oaklund, Denise (Doug) Satterfield, Mona (Karl) Kelley, Kathy Stough Fellers, Elizabeth (Gerald) Reed, Susan Stough Arterburn and Dana Oaklund.

Lynn received her high school education in Dowagiac, studied at the University of Dayton and completed further studies in theater at The Alley Theater in Houston, Texas and Saint Mary’s College.

She worked for over 21 years at Saint Mary’s College as an Administrative Assistant in the Education and Music Departments. She also taught basic acting, staging and writing skills in the Upward Bound program at the University of Notre Dame.

She was involved with the Paula Program at Saint Mary’s College teaching acting basics to 9-14 year old girls academically in the top 90th percentile of their schools. She produced, directed and taught theater basics through a grant for children’s theater from the Michigan Council of Arts for migrant children.

Her love for acting and directing was apparent with her vast experiences with acting, teaching and directing. She directed musicals at Niles High School for nine years and at St. Joseph’s High School for five years. She was the director of the award winning production of Little Fox at the South Bend Civic Center in South Bend, Ind. Lynn also directed productions at Logan Industries (fundraising), Sister Lakes Playhouse, H.I.’s Café, and was a producer and director for the Four Flags Players, including the 2009 productions of The Odd Couple (female version) and Gin Game.

A memorial service for Lynn and her son Dale will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center Street, Dowagiac, MI 49047. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lynn’s memory may be made to Mona Kelley, Trustee for the care of Lynn’s grandchildren, 4059 Keith Road, Springfield, Tenn..
