COLDWATER — The Niles softball team defeated Olivet 12-1 and Three Rivers 14-1 to win the Coldwater Invitational Saturday.

Tala Gentry was the winning pitcher in both games for the Vikings.

Niles finished the day with 12 extra base hits, including doubles by Olivia Jordan, Megan McKeel, Courtney Ankrapp and Kylee Myer. Mackenzie Shields tripled and Morgan Altergott homered.

“The girls just came to flat out play today, it was impressive,” Niles coach Ryan Frontczak said. “I really felt our girls did an amazing job on the defensive end of the game. Our pitcher did an amazing job of mixing up speeds and locations. When it comes to our offense, we were on all cylinders. We only had one inning in the entire tourney we didn’t score a run and that’s saying something.
