Brent Longbrake has always liked to help people.

So when he went looking for a new job that would allow him to spend more time with his family and still help others, becoming a wellness coach seemsed like a natural fit.

A carpet cleaning franchise was Longbrake’s original business, but when it kept him away from his wife and daughter he knew a change had to be made.

“Being an independent business owner is just who I am and what I have always wanted to do,” Longbrake said. “So that aspect of it isn’t shocking to me or my family, but this whole idea of what we are doing here all came about through luck, if you will, or intervention beyond my ability to comprehend.

“I was looking for answers about two years ago being that I was an owner of a business and by the end of the day when I got home I had nothing left to give my family. That really is what struck me as I have to make a change.”

Longbrake went looking for something that would give him more energy and allow him to be able to spend quality time with his family.

What he found was Herbalife.

He and his wife gave it a try and within days, he had more energy than he had in the previous two years.

“I would come home, get my work done and I would grab my daughter by the hand and we would go out in the front yard and play games,” Longbrake said. “She didn’t quite understand what was going on, but she knew that something had changed in her dad.

“It kind of struck a cord with me. How many people were in the same boat? How many other people work their nine to five and wish they could spend as much time and energy and effort on their family as they do at their job?”

So he started digging into how Herbalife worked and what he could do with his new-found desire and passion to help others.

He began helping people part-time on the side.

“Whether is was helping them regain that energy or helping them achieve that weight goal,” Longbrake said. “I just found I really had a passion for doing that.”

Longbrake went from working out of his home talking with family and friends and helping them get healthy and happy.

From there he started working with Heart City Nutrition out of Elkhart, Ind.

Longbrake then took it to the next level and opened his own business located at 68943 Gateway Drive next to the State Farm office.

By opening Key Nutrition, Longbrake said that people are more comfortable than they would be coming to his home.

“This kind of club, or cafe, environment really lends itself to the public being able to see what is going on and by having that it really has helped us expand our reach,” he said.

Key Nutrition opened last fall. It is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
