Dorothy (Krause) Boyersmith, 76, of Niles, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 12, 2014, at her home.

A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Services, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma.

Dorothy was born Jan. 15, 1938, in Benton Harbor, Mich. to Otto and Jessie (Witt) Krause. She was a 1956 graduate of Benton Harbor High School.

On Dec. 31, 1957, she wed her high school sweetheart, Herbert J. Boyersmith, in St. Joseph. They lived in St. Joseph until 1980 and returned in 2008 after living in California for almost 28 years.

Dorothy worked as a clerk at Ben Franklin and then a teller at ICB Bank. She eventually kept a busy schedule caring for her family and home. In her spare time she enjoyed crafts such as embroidery, watercolors and making cards.

Dorothy liked doing puzzles, playing games and playing cards with her family and friends. She loved her home and watching the animals and birds in the backyard.

Dorothy always appreciated the beautiful things in the world. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and will be remembered for being kind, loving and friendly to everyone she met.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Herb Boyersmith of Niles; daughter, Debbie Boyersmith of St. Joseph; sons, Joseph Boyersmith of Buchanan and Jeff Boyersmith of Niles; sisters Mary (Jeff) Boyersmith of Springfield, Ore. and Jean Hamilton of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; brother Bill (Linda) Krause of Edmore, Mich. and her two furry grandchildren Tiger and Sweetie.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
