Grace Dool, 83, of Edwardsburg, died peacefully Thursday, March 20, 2014, in her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Grace was born Sept. 27, 1930, in Decatur, Mich, to John and Grace (Klassen) King. She married William Calvin Dool May 29, 1954 in Decatur, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Helen Hoekstra, Tillie Vereeke, Ida Mott; and four brothers, John King, Harm King, Charles King and Bert King.

Grace loved to be surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She loved all of the holidays and used to make candy and Christmas cookies with the family. All of her life, Grace enjoyed listening to her nephew, Al Mott and his band, whether in person or on CD. She worked innumerable Word Search and Circle It books. She loved working in her flower garden.

Grace will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by three daughters, Deb (Lloyd) Myers, Terri Fosdick, Cathy Bishop and one son, Scot Dool, all of Edwardsburg; nine grandchildren, Heidi (Ryan) Hawkins of Edwardsburg, Kasey (Aron) Brigham of South Bend, Chad (Diana) Myers of Edwardsburg, Nichole (Rick) Drews of Cassopolis, Jessica (Dion) Hunt of Elkhart, Amanda (Mike Matlock) Bishop of Niles, Kailee Checkley of Edwardsburg, Derek Dool of Cassopolis, Brandon (Ashley Hickman) Bishop of Niles; 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way; one daughter of the heart, Gail Dohse of Edwardsburg; one granddaughter of the heart, Becky (Jack) Branson of South Bend; two grandsons of the heart, Tyler First and Tommy First, both of Cassopolis; three great-grandchildren of the heart; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Family and friends will gather Saturday, March 29, 2014, from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, with the Reverend Lon Bouma officiating. Mrs. Dool’s remains will be laid to rest beside her late husband, William, in Reames and Norton Cemetery, Cassopolis.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Grace’s name to Southern Care Hospice, 4341 South Westnedge Avenue, Suite 2100, Kalamazoo, Mich. 49008 in appreciation for the care they gave Grace, especially nurse Eva Cornelius and Chaplain Lon Bouma.
