Darlene Anna Scott, 71, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Saturday evening, March 1, 2014, in the Cass County Medical Care Facility in the presence of her family.

Darlene was born Oct. 29, 1942, in Dowagiac, Mich. to Fay and Marjorie (Stockwell) Holmes. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clifford Holmes and Allen Holmes.

Darlene loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She used to sit in bed and read and eat chocolate. Darlene was a homebody. She sewed and crocheted. She loved to cook and bake. She gardened and especially liked growing tomatoes and potatoes.

Darlene will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by three daughters, Susan (Kevin) Cagala of Jackson, Mich., Sherrie Waldschmidt of Whare, N.H., Sharon (Jeff) Suseland of Vandalia; one son, Steven (Patty) Waldschmidt of Cassopolis; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, R’slisle (Robert) Hettinghouse of Summerfield, Fla.; and one brother, Michael (Pam) Holmes of Miami, Fla.

The family will observe a private remembrance.
