E. Elizabeth “Skipper” Dahl, age 88 of Niles, Mich., went home to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at Hospice House in South Bend following an ongoing illness. She was born June 7, 1925 in Kingston, Pennsylvania to Myers & Estella (Ruggles) Delp. She moved with her family to South Bend, Indiana in 1927. She graduated from Riley High School in 1943 and earned her Bachelors Degree in Business Advertising at Indiana University, Bloomington, where she was a member of Alphi Xi Delta sorority.
On June 18, 1950, Elizabeth married Morris L. Dahl of Mishawaka and moved to Niles following the wedding at First Methodist Church in South Bend.
Elizabeth worked for the Niles Daily Star newspaper from 1968-1976 in retail advertising. In January of 1977 she joined the South Bend Tribune as an account executive in the Niles area, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Buchanan, she enjoyed camping with her family and friends and painting rocks and various crafts.
Her greatest joys in life were her children, grandchildren and of course, her husband Morris, who survives with son Dennis (and Susanne) Dahl of Hudsonville, Michigan, daughter Nancy (and Charles) Hall of Marion, Indiana, son Bradley (and Debbie) Dahl of Jenison, Michigan and grandchildren, Loren Hall, Ashley Dahl, Lindsey Dahl, Jason Dahl and Quinn Dahl.
Funeral services for Elizabeth Dahl will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at Faith United Methodist Church in Buchanan with Rev. Edward H. Slate of the church officiating. Interment will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4-6 on Thursday at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
