Beautiful Charlie “left the planet” while sleeping at home on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, in Dowagiac. Charlie, 66, was born in Dowagiac.2-26CharlieSiek

He was a self-employed as an auto wholesaler for over 40 years. His many interests included sitting on the beach, bike riding through Glen Arbor, good food and wine, music, and spending time with his family and friends. His kids were his greatest joy and he always made sure they were warm with a coat or scarf.

He is survived by his parents Jack and Betty Biek of Dowagiac; children Missy Biek of Elkhart, Ind., C.J. (Leslie) Biek of Elkhart, Marie Biek of Elkhart and Devin Biek of Goshen, Ind., and by their mother, Loa Biek of Elkhart; his grandson Oliver Biek; seven brothers and sisters, Becky (Peter) McIntyre of Texas, Jackie (Chris) Kelly of Illinois, Mary Biek of MI, Katie (Rick) Moore of Michigan, Andrew Biek of Michigan, John (Julie) Biek of Michigan, and Anna Biek of Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe.

Charlie served his country honorably and proudly in the Army from 1968 to 1970.

A Celebration of Life for Charlie will be held Sunday, March 2, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Wood Fire restaurant on 134 S. Front St., Dowagiac, MI. The family will greet visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a sharing of stories and a celebration of Charlie’s life. Everyone who knew Charlie surely had a story to tell.
