Evelyn was born on March 6, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Harry and Julia (Lewis) Tinker. She was united in marriage to Gordon M. Myrkle on Aug. 14, 1943, in Lawrence, Mich.

Evelyn was an avid homemaker and enjoyed the company of others. She also had a career outside the home working for Rudy Manufacturing, Dowagiac Co-op, Heddon’s and Kincheloe School where she retired in 1988 after 18 years of service. She was a member of the Red Hat’s and a past member of Keeler United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, baking, arts and crafts and painting.

Her surviving family includes her daughter Sandra (Larry) Conrad of Dowagiac; two grandchildren, Kristie Conrad of South Bend, Ind. and Andrew (Annie) Conrad of Niles; and one great-grandson, Chase Conrad.

Evelyn was called home on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1992 and her brother George Tinker.

Her family will have a gathering at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon. Evelyn’s burial will follow at Hamilton Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to The American Cancer Society.
