BANGOR — There was no suspense in Wednesday’s Division IV regional semifinal match between Brandywine and Bangor.

The Vikings recorded eight pins and cruised past the Bobcats, 54-24.

Bangor took a commanding 30-3 lead after totaling four pins from 103 pounds to 125 pounds.

The hosts clinched the match when Nicholas Hall posted an injury default win at 140 pounds. That victory gave Bangor a 42-6 lead.

“It didn’t look like we came out on fire tonight,” said Brandywine coach Rex Pomranka, whose team finishes 9-12 in dual meets. “It’s just been one of those years. One minute we’re on fire, the next minute we’re a little flat.

“Things snowballed for them. They came out on fire and we couldn’t recover.”

Brandywine got pins from Sam Burge (152) and Vincent Sallee (160), a decision from Cory Katterheinrich (285) and a win by forfeit from Brandon Earles (145).

“We’ve just take those wins into this weekend (at the individual regionals),” Pomranka said. “They’ve just got to build on what they did tonight. The kids that did win tonight wrestled hard.”

A bad evening got worse for the Bobcats at 140 pounds when Paul Lochmondy suffered a left leg injury in the first period. Lochmondy wasn’t able to return to the mat, giving his opponent an injury default win.

“It’s his ankle,” Pomranka said. “(Lochmondy) thinks it’s broken. I don’t know.”
