Niles hoop teams to play Mattawan at KVCC

The temperatures may be headed back toward normal, but that doesn’t mean the area sports teams are out of the woods just yet.

With snow in the forecast impossible to predict just how many games will get played this weekend.

The Niles girls and boys basketball teams are headed to Mattawan for a Big 16 West Division doubleheader Friday night.

Both games will be played at Kalamazoo Valley Community College in Oshtemo

The girls game is set to tip-off at 5:45 p.m. with the boys game to follow at approximately 7:15 p.m.

The Brandywine girls and boys teams will also be on the road Friday night.

The Bobcats will be entertained by Bridgman in Lakeland Conference competition.

The girls are slated to put their undefeated conference record on the line at 6 p.m., while the boys team will try to sting the Bees at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Conference wrestling is the name of the game on Saturday.

Brandywine will host the BCS Tournament beginning at 9 a.m., while the Vikings will travel to Battle Creek to compete in the Big 16 Tournament.

Wrestling is scheduled to start at Lakeview High School at 9 a.m.

Buchanan has moved its boys basketball game with White Pigeon, which was scheduled for Friday night, to Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The girls will play the Chiefs Feb. 10.

The Bucks’ Lakeland Conference game with visiting Cassopolis set for tonight has been postponed and tentatively rescheduled for Friday.
