Patricia Ann Simpson, of Cassopolis

Patricia Ann Simpson, 80, of Cassopolis, died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 three days after her forty-ninth wedding anniversary in Borgess Lee Hospital, Dowagiac.
Patricia was born Aug. 21, 1933 in Osceola, Ind. to George and Gladys (Brandon) Brooks. She married John C. Simpson, Jr. Jan. 21, 1965 in Bangor, Mich. He survives. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Osborne and Barbara Sue Osborne; three sisters, Betty Lester, Irene Bontrager, Joyce Wait and one brother, George “Bud” Brooks.
Patty Ann worked at Sundstrand Manufacturing in Dowagiac for 31 years and Porky’s Party Store for 17 years. She was a caregiver for her son in law, Nate Smith, for six years. Pat developed a special relationship with Marian Lauver. According to Pat, her greatest accomplishment was her “Big Man.” She was also known for her baked ham.
Pat will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her husband, John C. Simpson, Jr. of Cassopolis; three daughters, Deborah (Brent) Steele of Villa Rica, Georgia, Donna (fiancé, Charles Adams) Terrazas of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jacqueline (Nathaniel) Smith of Cassopolis; one son, John (Tracey) Simpson II of Cassopolis; 13 grandchildren, Felicia, Cherae, Ray, Daniel, Myrna, Mya, Marcus, Rome, Chelley, Nathaniel II, Lauren, John “Snapper,” Cheryl; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Boyland of California, and Sandra Kay Shaffer of Bristol, Ind.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis. with her nephews, the Reverends Russell Haines and David Johnson officiating. Mrs. Simpson will be laid to rest in Calvin Community Cemetery, Cassopolis.
