After having Wednesday’s matches wiped out by weather, area wrestling teams are excited to get back on the mat.

For some teams, it will be the first action of 2014. Others competed in invitationals last weekend.

Niles returned to the mat Thursday in Stevensville.

 

Gladwin Tournament

Dowagiac will head north to Gladwin to take part in their invitational Saturday.

Joining the Chieftains and the host team are Belding, Big Rapids, Bullock Creek, Chippewa Hills, Houghton Lake, Ionia, Manistique, Montabella, Plymouth, Reed City, Rogers City, St. Louis, Tawas, Whittemore Prescot, Elk Rapids, Oscoda, Pine River, Breckenridge, LakeVille and Standish-Sterling.

This is a team tournament format with wrestling on four mats beginning at 9:15 a.m.

Admission is $5 per person.

 

Buchanan Super Dual I

Buchanan will host Cassopolis, Unity Christian, Benton Harbor and the St. Joseph B team Saturday.

The Bucks’ B team will also take part in the team tournament, which is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

Admission is $5 per person.

Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Admission is $5 or $12 per family. No passes will be honored at the tournament.

Participating in the Grand Rapids West Catholic tournament will be the Eddies, Berrien Springs, Calvin Christian, East Kentwood, Forest Hills Central, Grand Rapids Catholic Central, Grand Rapids Union, Holland West Ottawa, Jenison, Kenowa Hills, Ludington, Newaygo, Ravenna, St. Joseph, Sparta and Vicksburg.

Wrestling is scheduled to begin in the individual tournament at 9 a.m.
