David L. Wilson, Sr., 73 years old, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest Dec. 2, 2013 at his home after a long struggle with cancer. He was born Jan. 24, 1940 in Sturgis, MI, the son of Frank Wilson and Virginia Wilson.

David attended school in Sturgis and graduated with the class of 1958, with honors. He attended Michigan State University. He was active in the ROTC and served in the military in Viet Nam.

In 1961, he married Audrey Flowers. the marriage ended in divorce. They had two sons, David L. Wilson, Jr. and his wife Debbie of White Pigeon and Frank L. Wilson and his wife Elise of Wheatridge, CO.

David lived in Kalamazoo for about 20 years and worked for Hydrico. He was a landscape designer/installer. The last 16 years he worked for Lowe’s in Niles and Elkhart.

On October 11, 1996 in Findlay, Ohio he married Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Gaeddert, who survives along with their children; Laura Wilson, Rebecca Wilson, Christopher Wilson and Benjamin Wilson, all of Edwardsburg. There is one grandson Landon Wilson of White Pigeon. He has a sister, Jean Rommel of Sturgis.

Family who have passed are his parents and a daughter, Susan Jean Wilson.

Family and friends may gather at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main Street, (US-12), Edwardsburg, on Thursday, Dec. 5th, from 5-8 PM. The Service of Remembrance will be Friday, Dec. 6th, 2013 at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home, where family and friends may gather for one hour before the service. Officiating will be Pastor Ben Slocum, a minister and friend from Niles. The graveside service will be Friday at 1:30 PM, where all will meet at the graveside in Oaklawn Cemetery, Sturgis, MI. It is suggested, that in lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 601 West Edison Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46545
