HARTFORD CITY, Ind. — For the first time in her promising career, former Brandywine standout Carlie Newman has received the Crossroads League Player of the Week honor.

Newman was named the player of the week on the strength of her 25-point, 12-rebound performance in Saturday’s 60-53 win over Rochester College.

Last year, Newman was named to the Crossroads League All-Freshman team and so far this season, she has no idea what a sophomore slump is.

Newman leads the Crossroads League in rebounds per game (9.3), blocks per game (1.4) and is second in points per game (22.0).

Newman’s leadership has guided Spring Arbor to the first 3-0 start in at least eight seasons and the Cougars attempted to remain unbeaten against the 16th-ranked Siena Heights Saints Monday night.
