Linda Kay Balentine, 64, of Niles, passed away Saturday Oct. 19, 2013 in her home with her family by her side. She was born June 13, 1949 in Benton Harbor to John and Erma (Brewer) Duncan.

On Nov. 17, 1984 in Granger she married John Balentine who survives along with her daughter Mellissa Lovet of Niles and son Michael Gerndt (Lisa) of Granger, five step-daughters, 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her siblings Debra Born of Mishawaka and David Duncan of Granger. Linda was the office manager for the family’s business Custom and Moore tree service for over 30 years. And a successful Realtor. She loved long drives in the country with her husband. Linda was a strong and amazing woman, who loved her family and friends. Linda put gusto into everything she did including clown school so she could be Nana Jingles for her grandchildren which she loved with all her heart. There is nothing in life Linda could not accomplish. Linda had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member on Maple View Free Methodist Church. She donated her time to work in the church office and also helped with the elderly. Linda will be loved and remembered forever. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North 17033 Cleveland Rd. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Funeral Home. As the family requested Cremation will follow services.
